Tynnesse and Kempo in
Just a Bigger Story

Nothing in life is as small as it seems. No story is as simple as it seems. It’s not so difficult to imagine where we want to be in life but things change, life happens and we come to a different place than where we thought we’d be. Sometimes, it isn’t such a bad thing. It actually can be a really great thing.

Tina said this of her niece, Tynnesse and Italian Greyhound, Kempo, “My great niece Tynnesse and Kempo met for the first time when they were both four years old. Tynnesse spent a lot of time with us through her elementary school years and Kempo was thrilled every time she stayed over. She especially loved napping with her in the afternoons and 'trained' Tynnesse well to lift the covers for her even when she was sleeping. Tynnesse started coming with me to conformation ring practice (my local kennel club put these on) when she was still four. When she said she wanted to practice with us, Kempo was the perfect partner being an experienced [retired] show dog. Tynnesse couldn't actually show her, but her foundation of practice with Kempo helped her gain skill and confidence as a handler.“

When you read on to see the rest of the story, you might wonder, from this child and her dog friend, how there could be a bigger story at such a young age. It may be by chance they found this connection early in life – napping together, loving together, learning together, practicing together, growing together – and on to a different place than where they thought they’d be.

“Tynnesse has gone on to put points on a couple of my other Italian Greyhounds, earning several Best of Breeds and even handled dogs for other owners - including finishing a championship - at 11 years old.”

Sometimes, you just have to believe, trust in that “source of love” closest to you and move forward knowing there’s a bigger story just waiting for you…
