PORTRAIT PROCESS

Welcome to the presentation of fine art by portrait artist Daune Sheri. This body of work features portraits based on the recognition of the artist's emotive realism in portraiture.

Portraits are custom created by hand through the use of the traditional medium graphite pencil, colored pencil, pastel and ink. Each allow for precise detail and offer honest likeness to their subject. The artist creates work and accepts work by commission with her main focus being child portraits and pet portraits.

By commissioning a custom portrait, the artist creates a child portrait or pet portrait  with the use of photographs you send as a reference.  These photographs should be chosen carefully, with the understanding that the detail and quality of the artwork is largely dependent on the quality of the photographs sent.  Please view Photography Tips.

Commissions are completed in the order they are received. Completion time takes approximately one to two weeks, however this may vary as it is dependent upon your choice of medium; the extent of detail of your specific piece; and how many orders are in process at the time. Typically your portrait will be shipped within four to six weeks of the order.  

Only professional quality art supplies are used in the creation of Daune Sheri's portraits. Arches fine art papers mouldmade in France, with 100% cotton fiber content are pH neutral (acid-free), hot press at 140lb weight. Derwent Graphite Pencils are chosen in a full range of densities to allow for variation of light and shadow in smooth, crisp detail. Prismacolor Colored Pencils feature a soft wax base made from light-resistant pigments to ensure smooth rich laydown and color saturation. Pan Pastels, a relatively new pastel,   result in a rich, ultra soft, painterly  application in highly pigmented color and excellent light fastness. Inks specially formulated to be waterproof, permanent, fadeless and acid-free are used with Rapidograph Technical Pens to create intricate detail and bold interpretation. No fixatives are used on the artwork.
